Hi! My name is Kissa (pronounced "Keesa" - that's Finnish for cat) and I'm Oz and Voodoo's little sister and Willow's big sister. Aren't I pretty? My brothers have finally allowed me to have a page of my own to tell my story, so here goes.I was born on a farm, where there were lots of other cats and kittens, three dogs and nine horses. There were three of us in the litter, two boys and me. When we were old enough, the lady who looked after all the animals (Liz) gave one of my brothers to a man down the road. At first I missed him, but there are so many other cats and kitties there, I soon got over it. A couple of weeks after my brother left, the man who took him came back and told Liz his kitten was gone. They had searched everywhere for him. There was no trace of him anywhere and the man said he figured a hawk had swept down and taken him away, and that he was probably picked to death! How awful! Then the man had the nerve to tell Liz he wanted my remaining brother and me.There was a really nice lady (now my meowmie), who used to come to the farm and pick me up and cuddle me all the time. When Liz told her about my brother, she was horrified. But when she heard that the man wanted me as well, she told Liz she couldn't take the chance of that happening to me and talked my new dad into bringing me to their home. Dad was a little skeptical that it would work, since they already had Oz and Voodoo, but mom kept pressuring him till he agreed to give it a try. Boy, am I glad he did! When they were ready to leave the farm, mom picked me up and we got into a strange contraption mom tells me called a car and off we went. I slept all the way home. My new brothers met us at the door, but when mom put me down so I could meet them, they ran into the bedroom and hid under the bed! I couldn't believe these two big brutes were afraid of little me! They didn't come out from under the bed for about four hours, which suited me just fine, since it gave me time to explore my new home. When they finally came out of hiding, they wouldn't have anything to do with me, but followed me everywhere I went - at a distance. They soon learned I wasn't going to hurt them (how could I?), realized I was here to stay and accepted me. I had no privacy whatsoever. They even followed me to the litter box!In no time at all, I had become a member of the family. Now the three of us play together all the time. Sometimes Voodoo gets a bit rough with me though, and I have to hiss, spit and growl at him. I guess he sometimes forgets that I'm just a kitty. :-) Our newest sister, Willow also plays rough and I hiss and spit at her too!It sure is nice not to have to sleep in a cold barn anymore. Every night when Mom goes to bed, I curl up with her and keep her warm. During the day, I like to lounge on the couch or daddy's chair. And you should see the toybox we have! Wow, just like Christmas! So many toys to play with - so little time. I never know what to play with next! But I learned not to touch Voodoo's little purple ball cause he gets really upset when I do. I don't care though, cause Mom gave me a little pink ball just like Voodoo's for my very own. My favourite toys are the crocheted mouse, which reminds me of the farm and a little grey stuffed Koala bear that I can carry around the apartment with me.The above picture is of Kissa and her winkwink Ralph. |
